Since you mention explorer, I assume you are using some window manager (graphical interface). In that case the permission can be set from the right click menu or somewhere else in the UI (depends on which window manager you are using - eg. KDE or GNOME). If you want to use command line check out the command 'chmod'.

I am totally new to Linux. I want to give write permission to one directory - want to create and write into the file - I can open the directory (like explorer in windows), but then how to give the write permission ?
