Well, the components would be what you need to worry about:
1) Check video compatibility (most well known vender are supported)
2) If using a modem or non-standard netowrk adaptor, check for support
3) Check the support for your sound card
4) If using firewire, check support for your card
Otherwise, the memory, cpu, and system board do not matter as long as it
is a working x86 machine.
I suggest building your own computer, for the same price you can get all
top of the line components. I suggest Intel board, P4 cpu, any well
known vendor for RAM, Nvdia video card, any soundblaster sound card, any
well known vendor for a dvd/cdrom.
Just stay mainstream vendors and for the most part your hardware will be
compatible, howeever, there are exceptions.
