Re: Changing "localhost.localdomain"

Hi,
I am a newbie. This thread raises the following question:
Has /etc/hosts got to do with this?
Hope someone can explain.
Ciao,
Pepijn.

I manually changed /etc/sysconfig/network.

Now I log and I have "MyComputer" as hostname.

BUT, when I try to compile, compilations generate an error message (but they end successfully):

"Could not canonicalize hostname: MyComputer"

lpd is giving hostname errors, too.

I tried issuing the hostname command, but I got the same results.

Any ideas?

TIA,

-Manuel.

I have a desktop computer at home running RH 7.2. I connect to the

text,

i.e., "naming" my computer.

How can I do this?

Displaying "computer's name" rather than "localhost.localdomain" has nothing but an esthetic meaning to me.

Thanks a lot,

hostname your.hostname
