Hello,
I am in the process of configuring a redhat 7.3 server to serve MySQL driven
web pages under heavy loads. I have been referring to this document:
http://www.mysql.com/doc/en/Linux.html
I believe my question is outside of the realm of the installation process -
the server is up and running just fine - so I am posting to this list. If
this is incorrect, please accept my apologies in advance...
My question is - how can I check to see what settings are currently in place
on my server? I have read much online about LinuxThreads but haven't found
anything which tells me how to read my current variables.
The hardware is a dual PIII x342 IBM with 1GB of RAM and 10,000 rpm drives.
It will be running only apache / perl and MySQL. I am looking at tux for
image serving etc, but that is further down the road.
With the above hardware in mind, is there some way I can calculate how high
I can increase my settings?
Thank you in advance for any advice or direction you can offer. I am new to
this level of system administration and have been reading till the wee hours
over this past week trying to get up to speed.
Mitchell
