Hey folks - I'm (still) having issues running Xconfigurator. This is Redhat 7.1. I am trying to up my screen resolution to take advantage of my nice big monitor.
Anyway, I "su -", then run Xconfigurator. It probes for the video cardand finds it ok. I then get the error
"There was an error reading the file /etc/sysconfig/mouse. Would you like to proceed in creating a new configuration?"
[root c2 andyw]# Xconfigurator Xconfigurator: Critical error reading /etc/sysconfig/mouse. Xconfigurator: Check permissions of /etc/sysconfig/mouse. Xconfigurator: Also - make sure you are running this program as root
[root c2 andyw]# ls -l /etc/sysconfig/ | grep mouse -rwxrwxrwx 1 root root 104 Apr 29 12:15 mouse
What the heck is going on? I am using a Dell machine, with a Microsoft wheel mouse (which works just fine). The contents of /etc/sysconfig/mouse are:
MOUSETYPE="ps/2"
XMOUSETYPE="IMPS/2"
FULLNAME="Microsoft IntelliMouse (USB)"
XEMU3=no
DEVICE=/dev/mouseAnd my pointer section of XF86Config (sans commented out lines) looks like:
# Pointer section
# ******************************************************************
Section "Pointer"
Protocol "IMPS/2"
Device "/dev/mouse"
Option "Buttons" "7" # For wheel support - can not be used with Emulate3Buttons
Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"
EndSectionAny thoughts? Any way to run Xconfigurator, and tell it to skip the mouse? (My options when it asks if I want it to run mouseconfig are Ok and Cancel, which give the same result).
Thanks, Andy Wallace andyw globilltech com
