Are you talking about Mozilla Mail or the browser ? If you're using the

always works and give a monospace font. There maybe better ways though.
That should work best for his needs because it displays the original line
breaks.
If he's weren't concerned about line breaks, then <tt></tt> or a CSS
font-family style that specifies "monospace" would be acceptable.
