Just to add to this point: the LUG I joined -- http://www.lugod.org -- has been absolutely invaluable. The level of expertise is good, and whenever I've had a question or a problem, there has always been someone there to give me an answer right away. They've helped me through two Linux installations (the last one I was able to do on my own -- huzzah for me!), a blown hard drive, and a complete system rebuild after everything in my desktop went south. In return, I've helped with various events and have helped instruct a class or two along the way. If you're headed out to LWE this summer, keep an eye out for our booth. :) Joining a user's group is a great idea for anyone who is learning Linux (or who an old master at it as well, probably). -- Slainte, Richard S.
