Hi,
Sendmail is setup sothat it does not allow other machines to
send mail through it by default.
Go to /etc/mail and edit sendmail.mc to allow other machines than
127.0.0.1 (localhost) to send to the box.  Also make sure that imap*rpm
is installed because, as far as i know, it contains the pop3 server 
software.
Try telnetting into your box on port 25 for testing sendmail and on port 
110 for pop3 to test it.
