what commands are you running to load it?
modprobe ip_conntrack_ftp
modprobe ip_nat_ftp
should work. don't put the .o when using modprobe. Modprobe will
install all prerequisite modules whereas insmod only tries to load the
one specified.
I have never seen them in modules.conf
