Looks to me like you will end up losing data anyway.  Once partitions are set 
and data has been put on them, you can't necessarily change the size of 
exising partitions without losing data.

You may be able to use partition magic to do what you want but make sure you 
back up the data first.  Another way would be to back up the data, then boot 
off the cd in rescue mode and perhaps partition that way.  Then restore when 
done. (using dump and restore utils)

Just my 2 cents worth.  I am sure someone else will also add to this as there 
are sure a lot of differrent methods to attain the end result in linux.
