(no subject)

i am using redhat 9.0
But my sound card is not working.
I tried to fix it with sndconfig 
but it shows /dev/audio can't be opened.
Also while startup X an error message shows
"/dev/dsp" is not found.... 


what should i do now...
can anybody help me out.??
