Hi all,
I have the same problem (and same monitor).
It started after installing the ATI driver for my video 
card (untill that moment all worked correctly), so I 
suppose it is depending on video card and not the monitor.
I haven't tried anything because as I understand the 
latest Xfree has built-in support for ATI 9000 series card 
and I was thinking about trying that.
