Problems after upgrading RH8 -> RH9.0

I just upgraded my box from Redhat 8.0 -> Redhat 9.0. The install went fine but now when I log in (I use graphical login) the screen flashes, shows a text login real quick and then just shows the login prompt again. Trying to do a text login the same thing happens, I log in, get no error message and am then booted back to a login prompt. I tried ssh'ing into the box and it just says "Connection closed by foreign host". This happens on ALL my logins. I went into recovery console and tried changing my shell and others from tcsh to bash, but that did not help. Can anyone give me some advice on where to look for problems/possible solutions?
