Title: Message
I have an Intel
N440BX motherboard with SYM53C875 SCSI controller. When I try to install RedHat
9, the install hangs when loading the driver for the SYM53C875 card. Actually
ALT-F4 gets me the status page and I can see the driver load. it recognizes the
SCSI drives in the bay, then I get timeout errors:
SCSI Host 0 abort
(pid xxyy) timed out - resetting
SCSI bus is being
reset for Host 0 channel 0
SYM53C8xx_reset: pid
16 reset_flags=2 Serial # yy...
This looks identical
to the problem discussed by Rick Stevens and Derek Ziglar back in Jult of 2002.
Regretably, there is no solution posted.
I've tried the
"noapic", "nodma" and "max_scsi_luns=0". I've searched REDHAT, GOOGLE and
ask.com. Lots of reading out there, no solutions...yet?
Any hints/help would
be appreciated.
Jacques
