Are you able to mount the partition when you're in rescue mode? Can you
see if there's been changes to the /etc/lilo.conf or if the contents of
the /boot are truly there? What about making a boot disk once you've
gotten on the system with rescue mode? (/sbin/mkbootdisk)
Last time this happened to me, it was because I installed XP AFTER I had
an already happy installed RHL...the XP changed the partition numbering
and left me hosed. That's how I had to fix it.
