RE: 169.254.0.0/16 route in routing tables???

169.254.0.0 is a pseudo private class b that windows boxen default to if
they can't find a dhcp server to use, it's all part  of microsofts plan to
get people that have know idea what they are doing to network there pc's.

Could be that your machine is picking up a route from someone with a windows
box.

Do you have any kind of routing engine running on your box ?

I have an "out of the box" but 'up2date' redhat 9 box that keeps getting a
route
for the 169.254.0.0 network in its tables.  I have no interface on that
network.
Any idea how this route might be getting in the tables?


This is a dig on that network. I don't use ATT as an ISP.
