from the command line do:
cdrecord -v dev=0,0,0 --eject --data file.iso
That should put the iso image on the disk the way you want. It assumes
you are using an ide cdwriter and that you have no scsi devices.
It would complain soon enough if this is not the case so you might just
try the command.
Put your blank cd in the drive and close it before you press enter.
You might have to be root, depending on how your box is set up.
