Problems after removing NIC (RHL9)

hi list.

just wondering if anyone has experienced any problems with RHL9 booting
after previously removing/re-inserting the NIC, in this case a 3Com
3C905B (iirc).

I powered down and removed the card and used it in another machine
temporarily, then put it back in and now i have no networking
capabilities... and on boot I get [FAILED] on the NIC/network related
services/drivers/etc.

When i try to activate it (via the GUI interface applet) it fails too.

Any ideas?
