Linux crashed and root password lost

Hi,

This is my first mail to the group.

I am in serious problem. One of my Linux server crashed today and on booting it is giving error "UNEXPECTED INCONSISTENCY" PLEASE RUN FSCK MANUALLY. Than it ask for root password.

But I have lost root password, I tried to boot in "linux single" mode but then also it ask for root password.

Please help!!!!
