I believe APM support is already made available with
the stock redhat kernels, which I haven't modified.
An interesting thing Stephen raised earlier was
whether I was running apmd, which I wasn't. I've done
further analysis on this and the boxes that do
poweroff on shutdown have it running.
I will enable the service tonight (I'll be onsite
then) and test it all, fingers crossed it works.
