I know that RedHat is able to be a client to either v3 or v2 and uses
v3 if available.  RHEL is capable of being a v3 server (I think)
I setup an nfsexport on a RedHat EL AS 2.1 server
and then on a RHEL AS 3 client I ran the command "mount -o nfsvers=3,ro 
testserv:/testexport /testmount"
and it worked.

When I run "mount" I see the mountime is mounted with the option 
"ro,nfsvers=3"
