The iptables logs

Hello,

I appended the under mentioned rules at the beginning to log all
packets.

iptables -A INPUT -j LOG --log-level DEBUG --log-prefix "INPUT
packets:"

I added the same rules to OUTPUT and FORWARD chain.

But when I look at /var/log/messages, I don't see any log
messages. Am I looking at the correct place?
