LAN traffic monitor

I've got RH9 set up as my LAN's gateway. Now would like to learn how to 
monitor traffic, restrict or limit bandwidth usage by different nodes on 
the network and stuff like that. Any recommendations on available tools I 
can install for this purpose? Desktop or CLI, both are fine.
