I suggest RedHat 9 as I believe it to be the best Linux Distro ever for
your purpose.
Update with yum from http://www.linux.duke.edu/projects/yum/download.ptml
Boxed copies are hard to find maybe eBay? Usually handmade copies work well
and are available.
