LIDS on RH-E-WS-4

Does anyone have experience installing LIDS on
RH-E-WS-4, or something similar.  The LIDS
documentation indicates that the kernel must be
parched and recompiled, and that the kernel
supplied by the vendor (RH) should not be used.
Any opinions about this?
