The is always no need to re-install the system. This is not a product
similar to others that needs to (and hot-line forces you to do so).
The is more ways how to fix it, for example:
a) hold down a CTRL (or whatever) when booting the machine
b) start system to rescue mode (type "linux rescue"when booting from
1st CD), it connect your system under /mnt/sysimage so simply
edit /mnt/sysimage/boot/grub/grub.conf
