UTF-8 is, despite the growing pains, the right thing to do for the world.
There's a lot of character sets out there, and this makes them Just Work.
Take a look at Fedora/base/comps.xml in the Fedora install tree (on the CD
or download it from the FTP site) with `more` -- look at all of the
different international characters happily mingling.
