/etc/fstab does not have a mount line for /dev/fd0, and if you add one

fix mounting of /dev/fd0?

running the 624 kernel? using hal-0.4.0-3?

try rebooting into something older than the -624 kernel like for
example the -610 kernel
and see if that makes the floppy device in /etc/fstab come back.
Before you reboot into the older kernel make sure the floppy entry is
not present.

Yes, the 624 kernel. I had thought I was fully up to date so I tried your advice without checking the hal version. Under hal-0.4.0-2 I couldn't get the floppy device to show up in fstab under kernels 603 through 624. I just updated to hal-0.4.0-3 and still can't get the floppy device under the 624 kernel. I'll try older kernels later today. I guess I'll have to define a floppy device each time I reboot -- I don't have the skill to troubleshoot this issue.
