yum has no baseurl on FC5

After I did the update to kernel 1805, yum now fails to find the baseurl 
of any of the repos's.

I dropped back to kernel 1800, but the result is the same (no workie). 
Because yum does not leave me any other kernels, I have no other options.

The system is:
  AMD 2000+
  80 GB IDE drive

I tried 'yum clean all' but that was no help to the command 'yum update'.

I saw this problem temporarily on FC4 on Saturday, but FC4 recovered.
