i'm sure there's a simple answer to this, but i just casually tossed a
copy of fedora on someone else's system -- intel 865G video card,
dell X772p monitor -- and it installed nicely, only to come up in (ugh!)
640x480.
no problem, thinks i, a quick "redhat-config-xfree86", select 1024x768,
and we're all set. nope. still 640x480. ok, check /etc/X11/XF86Config,
manually put in the "1024x768" as the only possibility. still no change.
argh. back off and at least see if 800x600 works. nope.
so i'm definitely puzzled. i don't have the docs for the card or monitor,
but i *have* to believe this monitor can do better than 640x480. i'm
about to dig into bugzilla, google, etc. to see what i can find, but does
anyone have a suggestion? i've never seen a system so adamant
about a particular resolution.
rday
p.s. i have next to zero experience with intel video cards, so maybe
there's something blatantly obvious i need to do?
