error message

When installing fc5 to hardrive I get the following message= 

                         Error
Attempt to read sector 0-7 outside of partition on /dev/sda

                                ignore      cancel


The message occurs when the partition is being prepared for the install.
Does anyone know what this means, beyond the obvious?
Why would I have sectors outside of a partition of an entire disk?
