Sometimes the above can be worked around by issuing "yum clean
metadata", if there's some caching problem between yourself and the
mirror.
But if you leave it trying long enough, you may get this (as you did):
> primary.xml.gz 100% |=========================| 765 kB 00:05
> extras : ################################################## 2163/2163
> Added 161 new packages, deleted 849 old in 3.46 seconds
> No Packages marked for Update/Obsoletion
It, finally, found a mirror that it could work with, but didn't find
there was anything needing updating.
