That is a bit misleading. If you want the latest and greatest consumer
video cards, than that would be a defendable position.
However, you can get 3d accelleration using open source drivers on intel
chipsets and ATI cards that are a generation old (r200, r300 and r400 with
the r300/r400 driver being relatively new).
