Well if the OP is using keys generated on a Debian or Ubuntu system,
the keys are very well likely the broken kind. If the box is
connected to the net, it's possible that a random bot has already
begun attacking such keys.
For ~78mb you can have a set of most of the common keytypes that could
be generated on Debian/Ubuntu systems over the past few years:
