But what if you are facing a one-time (well, once every six months or

company gets it wrong in these cases -- busy signals on Mother's Day,
etc.

Sure, there's always room to do better. But keep in mind that what
looks like the actions of incompetents or a shadowy conspiracy might
also be nothing more than good honest people doing the best they can in
a constantly changing situation.
Of course, this worldview is boring, and doesn't make for interesting
discussions, so it seldom gets much airtime... :-)
