Albert, take a look at the file /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date. If you read
through it, it's pretty much self-documenting, but you are specifically
looking for the "enableProxy" setting, which should be set to 0. If you
find any errors in there and correct them, you should restart the rhnsd
daemon with the command "service rhnsd restart" and then perhaps retry
up2date.

The file makes interesting and rewarding reading, btw.
