Greetings all
I'm sure I'm covering old ground here sorry. Gone thru just about
everything I can get my hands on to make this work.
Is it a 3com driver, IRQ, PCI thing or what.
Hoping some one on the list can point me in the right direction.
Really appreciate your help.
I've got
Compaq 650's deskpros with Virgin RH8 Server install
(runs like a dream).
650-1 Bridge/Packet filter want to be
/* &&&&&&&&&&& ETH1 &&&&&&&& /*
eth1 3com 3c905-tx-m-8 etherlink 10/100 PCI nic card
Due to the PCI thing eth1 is the connection to the world.
I'm assuming it doesn't matter
connected to the internet works fine
ping to eth0 works fine.
link and data/packet lights look very happy.
ifconfig TX & RX looks good
execpt IRQ 11
memory 0x1000
route -n looks good. Both eth0 & eth1 are listed gateway for
eth1 is allowing the connection to the world.
/* &&&&&&&&&&& ETH0 &&&&&&&& /*
eth0 3com 3c905-tx-m-8 etherlink 10/100 PCI nic card
connect to 650-2 via crossed (checked) twisted pair cable
ifconfig TX 88 & RX 0 looks bad
execpt IRQ 11
memory 0x1400
route -n looks good. Both eth0 & eth1 are listed
eth0 does not have a gateway.
no link or data packet lights
650-2 .. would like to see the outside world via 650-1
/* &&&&&& 650-2 ETH0 &&&&&&&& /*
eth0 3com 3c905-tx-m-8 etherlink 10/100 PCI nic card
connect to 650-1 via crossed (checked) twisted pair cable
ifconfig TX 14 & RX 0 looks bad
execpt IRQ 11
memory 0x1080
route -n looks good.
gateway pointing to (650-1 .. eth1 outside world ipaddress).
no link or data packet lights
can't ping anything
can't traceroute anything
