Subject: [rhn-users] Problems upgrading to 8.0

I’ve upgraded to 8.0 from 5.0. Motherboard and other stuff is a few years old. The upgrade went fine but I have several problems.

1.     I opted to convert to ext3. The system works, but mount during boot complains that ext3 is not supported by the kernel. Is this a problem ? /proc/filesystems has only ext2.

2.     I cannot mount cdrom and floppy:
mount: /dev/cdrom is not a valid block device
mount /dev/fd0
mount: fs type vfat not supported by kernel
Is this related to an incompatibility between 5.0 and 8.0 ? Is this related to the ext3 fs error message ?

3.     My NIC doesn’t work, I bought a new one, still no go. I may need a driver, but cannot proceed until I get cdrom and/or floppy to work.

Please help!
