folks,
Could not solve the problem, in this weekend.
RH9 literature mentions 2 things about upgrading to RH9:
1. /etc/redhat-release should contain default value of the
current redhat release.
My redhat-release contains:
Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)
> rpm -q --what-provides redhat-release
returns redhat-release-7.2-1
Does anyone see any problems with this??
2. ximian gnome should be removed and may be if needed installed
after RH9 is installed.
The command: >rpm -qa | grep ximian returns nothing,
therefore good sign for my RH7 gnome.
> rpm -qi gnome-core retunrns RedHat as vendor
therefore good news.
What is going on? RH9 refuses to upgrade.
According to upgrade instructions, after mouse check,
the display should be for "Upgrade Examine Screen"
Instead I get fresh install screen.
I have grub for the loader.
My FINAL OBJECTIVE: dual-boot : install Windows XP Pro after RH9 is done.
HELP IS APPRECIATED.
thnx.
