Hi,
The USB Alcatel DSL modems and USB DSL modems generally are a pain to
get up and running on GNU Linux. Personally I just went OS independent
and purchased a D-Link DSL 504 DSL Router with 4 port switch. Setup and
configuration via web based GUI or telnet.

With the above hardware and network card in your box(s) you can choose
whichever ISP you want and the OS's you run are not an issue! The added
kicker is that if you upgrade the distro etc. you are not left trying to
get the USB DSL modem working again and again and again - You see the
cycle you can get into I think! :)
