Well, pinging is not supposed to work. Most of the corporate firewalls are
filtering ICMP echo requests. Gone is the day when ping was useful on the
Internet; it's the worm and DOS attacks days now. :-)
If in doubt about the network status, telnet xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com 80
should tell you exactly what's going on.
