Dear Colleagues,
I desperately need your help, since I am in serious trouble after
updating my glibc using Redhat RPMS. Any help/advice that you can
provide will be greatly appreciated.
This is the what I did on my dual-Pentium III machine running Redhat
Linux 7.0
rpm -Uvh glibc-profile-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386.rpm \
glibc-common-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386.rpm\
glibc-devel-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386.rpm glibc-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386.rpm
It went through all right, EXCEPT that I got this warning message:
warning: /etc/localtime created as /etc/localtime.rpmnew
and the following error message twice:
/sbin/ldconfig: /usr/lib/libnss_compat25.so is not a shared object (Type:2)
Also, an indication that some thing went wrong is that when I did
rpm -qi glibc-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386
I got the response that
package glibc-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386 is not installed.
I got the same response when I did rpm -v glibc-2.2.4-18.7.0.8.i386
The serious trouble that I now face is that I cannot run any program
that uses glibc.
Please help. Your help will be greatly appreciate.
