Antonio,
Yes, you should upgrade your up2date at least, you may even wish to upgrade
your entire system to 7.2 at least.
I have 7.2 and 7.3 running on a few machines and I have not had any problems
upgrading any RPM with 'up2date'.
FYI: here's my version of up2date,
# up2date --version
Red Hat Update Agent v2.8.39
Copyright (c) 1999-2001 Red Hat, Inc.
Licensed under terms of the GPL.
