would you really like any arbitrary user to run linuxconf? I am always glad that this doesn't work, although I trust everyone on my network. You see: You can really damage a system when you don't really know what you do.

Or do you just refer to the problem that root can't start graphical user interfaces in foreign X? Then you can allow that w/ "xhost": "xhost +", e.g., allows access from any machine (and any user there!) to the X window that is open. (Must be issued by user.) But read the man page for options.

BTW - I know it's off topic, but I can only run linuxconf when I log in as root, I think because my access rules for X are set to allow only the user that logged in. Anyone any idea how to set them to any local user in redhat 8 ?
