Hi Larry,
would you really like any arbitrary user to run linuxconf? I am always
glad that this doesn't work, although I trust everyone on my network. You
see: You can really damage a system when you don't really know what you do.
Or do you just refer to the problem that root can't start graphical user
interfaces in foreign X? Then you can allow that w/ "xhost": "xhost +",
e.g., allows access from any machine (and any user there!) to the X window
that is open. (Must be issued by user.) But read the man page for options.
Cordially,
Peter

Hi
Thanks very much on providing all these resources for linux firewalls and
anti-virus software. Guess I've got some reading to do!!
BTW - I know it's off topic, but I can only run linuxconf when I log in
as root, I think because my access rules for X are set to allow only the
user that logged in. Anyone any idea how to set them to any local user in
redhat 8 ?
Cheers
Larry
