[rhn-users] Error : invalid character: message ignored

Dear All,

Iam using RedHat Advanced server ver 2.1
When I try to generate a catalog file using 'gencat' I get the following
message when the input text file contains Japanese characters.

"invalid character: message ignored"

Tried setting the lang variable to japanese too.

Please suggest the reason/problem
