[rhn-users] Kernel Compilation and up2date

I used to be a slackware user before, but recently due to a few reasons I've 
switched over to RH8. I'm used to downloading the kernels and then 
configuring them manually, everytime.

My questions is, if I make any alterations to a kernal previously installed 
using up2date, what happens the next time I install a kernel using up2date? 

Will it install the new kernel with the standard configuration?
