[rhn-users] Sound in Multimedia

Hello Folks,
     I've been using RH7.3 for the last two years and there has never been any 
sound from any source. With RH7.1 I at least got sound when booting. 
Occasionally I get a dialog box that pops up and says 
"Sound server. Fatal error
CPU overload, aborted"
     My computer has an Intel 82801BA/BAM AC'97 sound card and an i801_audio 
driver. 
     As root using the sndconfig utility, the sound card is recognized and 
when configured for it, there is still no sound. Is this sound card like a 
winmodem that can only work with MS?
     I can live without sound but it would be nice. Any help would be 
appreciated.
