If you re-partition using fdisk you will lose everything on the drive

Martin, is correct. My experience is that each of the partitioning programs,
linux fdisk, MS fdisk and partition magic, will have slight variances. My
suggestion for using fdisk was just to "SEE" what partitions were actually
present. If you try tomodify the partitions with either fdisk, you must back
up because you will lose files. I have had some luck with Partition Magic
saving files but wouldn't trust it completely. You are better off reading
the documentation on fdisk and then using the abbreviated help file it
offers "m" I believe is the command but it is displayed when fdisk runs.
But if things are so muddled that you are repartitioning the disk then I
would clear it off, use linux fdisk to partition the disk, check that
windows
sees the resulting DOS/VFAT partitions and then format the MS partitions
with MS format program.
J.
