RE: [rhn-users] Up2date fails with "Forbidden"

First, thanks to Julian for pointing me in the right direction. I'd fooled
with the proxy settings before, but not in this way.

As it turned out, the problem was a result of the local proxy not processing
https. So, after successfully using a configuration with a proxy for months
and having it stop working for no apparent reason, it now works with no
proxy. Did update recently switch to https?

I'm still confused where the changed happened, since I'm several layers away
from the real Internet. I guess I should be grateful that anything works.

John

Hello John,

I just saw your message about this on the rhn-users archive. (But I've
only just subscribed, so I can't reply properly.)

I've just solved a similar problem to this, by searching the rhn-users
archives under "up2date 403"; it was the proxy settings. Check the
proxy settings are correct in /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date : in my case,
it had turned on proxying (via itself) when it should have been off,
but maybe in your case the proxy settings have been corrupted in some
other way.

Hope this helps,
Julian
